We at PB Conversions specialise in vehicle mobility adaptations for people with disabilities within Leighton Buzzard and across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. We first established in 2001 but founder Paul Berridge has over 20 years of experience overall within the mobility industry and car adaptations. This professionalism and experience echoes into the rest of the team enabling us to be able to offer our customers high quality workmanship with a personal and professional service.
There are motoring accessories available for people with upper and lower body disabilities, and even those with both so we guarantee we can provide the best products that will suit your individual needs. As well as manufacturing our own mobility products, we also offer motor alteration services and offer the best solution for mobility cars. THE SERVICES & PRODUCTS WE PROVIDE INCLUDES:
Hand Controls – We manufacture our own hand controls which come with a 3 year warranty and servicing. The overall design is quite neat so that it doesn’t affect the overall look of the vehicle and If someone else wishes to use the car they can just use the pedals as standard. The underneath part is padded to offer extra protection for your legs. Hand controls however can only be fitted to automatic vehicles.
Car Adaptations Space Drive – This particular adaptation allows a person of little strength, minimum movement, or any other similar disability, to drive a vehicle. You can activate the brake, accelerator, steering wheel and the rest of the car by using the driving aids we put in which are all controlled by microprocessors.
Wheelchair Hoists – We have the facilities to fit many different types of wheelchair hoists in your vehicle. They will lift wheelchairs or scooters in to the back of your vehicle. The type of wheelchair hoist you choose will depend upon the type of vehicle you have, your particular needs and the weight of your wheelchair / scooter . There are lots to choose from and we can recommend what will be best suit you and your vehicle.
Radio Remotes & Roof Stowage Systems – These particular controls are great for people who find driving with 2 hands a challenge, or can only drive with one hand. We fit two types of systems – the Roof Spider or the Chair Topper. The Roof Spider will drop a manual folding wheelchair to either the driver or the front passenger on any side of the vehicle. The Chair Topper however will drop a manual folding wheelchair to either the drivers or front passenger side but this one can only be set up to drop down only one side of the vehicle.
Wheelchairs – The powered wheelchair we have available is the Paravan PR30. This wheelchair can be modified with a wide range of additional options to suit different medical needs. This particular wheelchair has a modular system which offers options such as tilt function, a lift function, additional electric footrests, and many more. The standard version comes with the specially developed contoured seat systems. There are however four other different types of wheelchair available too which suit certain needs.
Left Foot Accelerator – This adaptation provides two accelerator pedals, which can be placed on either side of the brake pedal. It is a twin flip pedal so you pull down whichever accelerator you wish to use at the time, so someone else can still drive the car as standard. We manufacture our own twin flip left foot accelerators.
Seats – We provide everything from Turnout seats to the Carony seat which is a seat for the car which converts to a wheelchair meaning there will be no more transferring. These systems are either manual or electric. These particular seats can turn by swivelling the seat outwards or by a control button or a remote control.
Steering Aids and Power Steering – If you find your car is too heavy to steer, we can lighten it for you. We can do this by adjusting your power steering or by adding adaptations such as steering wheel knobs to make it easier for you. These can be removed for when another person uses the car and It is compatible with any car, even those with airbags.
Drive From the Wheelchair – All our ‘drive from the wheelchair’ vehicles are bespoke and individually adapted to suit the persons individual needs. There are a range of ‘drive-from’ and ‘up-front’ conversions available, which allows you to sit up front with the driver or take control, as the driver.
